We were sad to hear of the recent death of Hazel Clarke  who had been one of the first members of our organisation.

In 1993, Hazel became our Honorary Company Secretary bringing many years of experience gained as Chief Officer of, the then, Crewe Community Health Council (CHC).

During our first years, we had little in the way of equipment, just a typewriter that had been donated. My skills as a typist left much to be desired and Hazel’s skills and office know how were invaluable. 

Hazel served on the original steering group and went on to be a director when the organisation became a not for profit company limited by guarantee.

Independent Advocacy Cheshire is now a successful organisation helping to champion the rights of people with learning disabilities and it is the personal commitment of people like Hazel that has led to that success. It was a pleasure knowing and working with Hazel.
