Rosemary has time for IA!

I was welcomed as a Trustee of IA in May and was quickly asked to be Vice Chairperson.  Since then I have been learning from Paul and trying to be useful.

I first came across IA when Lorraine was advocating for a parent of one of my pupils.  She and I found ourselves at several meetings together and I saw the value of the service she was providing.  With my background in schools I am keen to take a particular interest in the IA’s Young Peoples’ Advocacy Project.

I’m now retired, but was a teacher in Winsford for 30 years. My last job was as Head Teacher of a school with a unit for children with complex learning needs.

For many years I was a member of several Cheshire County Council teams working to improve special education and early years education.  I met my husband, Don when I was aged 14 and still at school.  We’ve been together now for 42 years!

Our children, Robert and Catherine, are both grown up and married.  We have four grandchildren and another due next spring.  We love to travel and have visited many different countries all over the world, but there are still plenty of places for us to see.
