Nick's Letter

Well, I’ve been in post now for 7 weeks, and am amazed at the many different aspects of the job, certainly no time to get bored!

My resolution for the next 3 months is to try and get to meet as many of you as I can and work out some priorities for the coming year.

A social event will be held towards the end of September and your ideas are very welcome.

I’m currently, along with the Trustees, exploring various funding possibilities for continuing and greatly expanding Young Peoples’ Advocacy, and again would welcome opinions as to whether IA should consider working with younger children.

At present, we only work with children over the age of 14.  We hope to expand this project  together with the current services offered and provide support for children with learning disabilities who attend mainstream school.  Also, to offer support to young people during the transition from school to adult life and possibly young people who find themselves involved in care proceedings.

Thanks to everyone for all their commitment and hard work, the success of IA has been, and will continue to be down to the involvement of everyone in the organisation.

We realise that currently, the IA newsletter is written by staff and Trustees.  It would be really good if others involved felt inspired to write something for future additions.  If you don’t feel confident writing things, Debbie or I c an offer support.
