The 12 Cheshire organisations continue to provide a consistent IMCA service for vulnerable adults in Cheshire.
In the last twelve months Independent Advocacy Cheshire has received 10 IMCA referrals, nearly all resulting in a positive outcome. IMCA is providing a vital service in representing peoples’ best interests within the complex and often confusing health and social care systems.
From April, Independent Advocacy Cheshire will be involved in two new initiatives, Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
(Dols).
IMHA represents people with learning disabilities who find themselves within secure mental health services and have no appropriate family and friends to represent them.
It is very difficult to predict the amount of additional work this will produce, so we will have to wait and see.
