I can’t quite believe that as a new volunteer Advocate with IA I was only introduced to my CA partner, Arthur, in February of this year.  My relationship with Arthur is such that I feel I have known him for much longer – but that is due to Arthur’s warm personality.  He’s just great company and I enjoy his friendship. 

 As our friendship has grown we have had numerous outings.  Initially, I was rather concerned about Arthur getting into my car.  If I tell you I own a Micra and Arthur is well over 6’3’’ and would not look out of place in the front row of the British Lions Rugby team, you can appreciate my concern! But I need not have worried; Arthur has got the technique down to a fine art.  We are currently undertaking a survey of the fish & chip meals in the area – this being Arthur’s favourite food.  To date, we both agree that Les’s Fish Bar in Crewe gets a five star rating!  Arthur is always interested in news of my family, including my cat, and Arthur is building up a collection of postcards from my daughter Catherine as she continues her globetrotting adventures.  On a more serious note, I hope I have been of assistance and support to Arthur as an Advocate. Since meeting him, with the support of Lorraine, which has been tremendous, Arthur has fulfilled his wish to move.  Arthur seems happy in his new surroundings and I certainly learnt a great deal in my role as Advocate during the course of the move.  Meanwhile, I look forward to a continuing friendship with Arthur and lot more fish and chip dinners!
