IA Membership

Why Join Independent Advocacy (Central Cheshire)?:

IA is a voluntary organisation and needs to be reflective of the local Community and have local people taking decisions in its management.  IA is a Registered Charity.

We need supporters, whether or not you get actively involved.  If you believe Advocacy is a good thing please join so that we can tell others how many people support us.

What Does Being A Member Mean? - Being Part Of It:

If you join IA as a member, you have the right to attend all Annual General Meetings, and vote for the Management Committee.  You will be sent information about the Annual General Meeting beforehand.

You will be given a membership certificate and Newsletters and other information.

You can also be elected onto the Management Committee.

Your membership runs for two years - after this time your membership is renewed unless you say otherwise.

IA needs members to provide: useful contacts, local information, networks of people, telling others about our projects and any other offers of help will be gratefully received.

How Much Does It Cost?:

Membership is FREE

What Am I Signing?:

Independent Advocacy (Central Cheshire) is a Company Limited by Guarantee.  This means that if IA ceases to exist, and leaves any debts, every member will be liable to pay the debts up to a maximum of £1 each.  Note: there’s no membership fee.

If you would like to read all of the Constitution (Memorandum and Articles of Association) we have copies at the office.

THE AIMS OF INDEPENDENT ADVOCACY (CENTRAL CHESHIRE)

Aims are things that IA wants to do.

Aims (and benefits)

To promote advocacy within Central Cheshire

To offer a range of Advocacy to meet differing needs.

To recruit, train and support people to become Advocates.

To make sure that confidentiality and loyalty is maintained.

To make sure that the rights and wishes of people who use the service are recognised and upheld.

To be a constructive critic of services within the framework of the Community Care Act.

We will work within the context of the White Paper ‘Valuing People’ to ensure that people with a learning disability have the same life choices as everyone else.

IA does this through these Services:
